It's odd to learn that there have only ever been 2 international conferences devoted entirely to the study of the periodic table. The first was in the Vatican in 1969 as part of the celebrations for the centenary of Mendeleev's famous first table of 1869. A book of proceedings was published and included a contribution from physicist John Wheeler.
The second such conference was held in Banff, Canada in 2003 and this led to the publication of two books of papers given at the meeting.
Now the 3rd conference has appeared on the horizon. It is being held in Cusco, Peru, the home of Julio Gutierrez a Peruvian periodic table designer.

The really cool thing is that the organizers have arranged a day-trip on the 17th August, after the conference is done, to visit the archeological wonder of "Machu Pichu".
